Schiphol Fastest-growing Airport in Europe
THE HAGUE, 06/11/13 - Schiphol was the fastest-growing airport in Europe last year. With over 1 million extra passengers departing from Amsterdam, it overtook Madrid as the fourth largest airport within the EU.
The Amsterdam airport reported it handled 50.98 million passengers last year, up 2.6 percent. Conversely, Madrid’s passenger traffic dropped 8.9 percent to 45.12 million, according to figures released by Eurostat. London Heathrow remained the biggest airport in the European Union with 69.98 million passengers. Paris and Frankfurt come second and third, ahead of Schiphol. |
