Public Broadcaster Gives Bike Theft Course

THE HAGUE, Friday - In a new TV programme, Kassa 3, public broadcaster VARA has given youngsters tips on how to steal bicycles.

VARA went in search of bikes secured with heavy-duty locks. The thief locks the bike with a lock of his own and then complains to a supervisor that someone has placed a lock around his bike. The supervisor asks which lock needs to be removed and saws off the real lock. The thief subsequently opens his own lock and cycles off.

Kassa 3 is a new programme on the channel Nederland 3. As the government decided last year, this channel is aimed at 'urban youngsters'. Kassa 3 is the trendy counterpart to the more serious consumer programme Kassa, which has for years been attracting high ratings on the family channel Nederland 1.
