THE HAGUE, Saturday - An educational institute for the logistics sector is to be set up in Breda. Five universities (Rotterdam, Delft, Eindhoven, Tilburg and Twente) will be involved in the project. The institute, which will include a campus, will do research into innovative logistics concepts, as well as give courses. "This will create cross-fertilisation between the (research) institutions and the companies in the logistics sector," according to Economic Affairs Minister Maria van der Hoeven and Transport Minister Camiel Eurlings. The investment will amount to 67 million euros. Of the total, 25 million will come from the two ministries, donating 12.5 million each. Additionally, about 30 companies and knowledge institutions have said they will contribute. The logistics sector provides 8 percent of employment in the Netherlands. The educational institute in Breda is part of the Logistics and Supply Chains innovation programme. |
