| Death Threats By Pupils: Only Teacher Punished | |
BREDA, 01/02/07 - The two pupils at a school in Goirle who made death threats to their teachers in a rap song have both been cleared. The only person penalised in the case was one of the teachers. On 27 March 2006, the website of Mill Hill College secondary school was hacked. For a period of several hours, the page showed a photograph of a masked person and the words of a rap song in which teachers of the school received death threats and insults. The children's court in Breda considered as proven that a 17-year-old boy had hacked the computer of Mill Hill College and placed the rap song on the site. According to the judge, however, it was done without intent. Therefore, the boy was acquitted of hacking the website and threatening and insulting his teachers. The boy stated that the alleged creator of the offensive lyrics forced him to hack the school's website. This fellow suspect was already acquitted last year, however, due to lack of evidence. The Public Prosecutor has lodged an appeal to take this case to a higher court. Last week, the principal of Mill Hill College was penalised for putting the 17-year-old boy under illegal pressure. After the incident, the principal took the boy with him in his car to pressurise him into a confession. The judges felt this was taking things too far and fined the teacher. | |
