Poll: PVV Still Strong
THE HAGUE, 31/03/14 - The Party for Freedom (PVV) is still a big party. Following the loss of five seats last week, it has already gained back one seat again, according to pollster Maurice de Hond. PVV leader Geert Wilders plunged the party into crisis on the eve of the local elections on 19 March by urging “less Moroccans” in the Netherlands. Two MPs and the PVV leader in Brussels resigned, the media wiped the floor with the party and many PVV voters also considered the statements went too far. But the PVV appears to be clawing its way back up and has one more seat than last week at 23. This is four fewer than before 19 March. This would make the PVV the second biggest party behind centre-left D66, which won two seats to 25 this week. The conservatives VVD and Christian democrats (CDA) are both unchanged at 21 seats. Labour (PvdA) continues to fall further, from 13 to 11 seats, close to the lowest score ever in September 2013 (10). The European elections are in about two months. |
