Richer Pensioners to have State Pensions Cut
THE HAGUE, 31/08/13 - In 2015, richer pensioners in the Netherlands will be docked 25 euros per month on their state pension (AOW) payouts, sources close to the cabinet said in response to reporting by RTL Nieuws.
The so-called Older Taxpayers Purchasing Power Relief Act (MKOB) will be abolished in 2015. This act currently gives all AOW recipients a supplement on the basic AOW. People up to a certain income and wealth level will still receive a supplement after 2015, but this will remain out of the reach of the richer over 65s. The abolition of the MKOB will yield the Treasury a net 750 million euros in 2015. The opposition has reacted negatively. Both the Party for Freedom (PVV), Christian democrats (CDA), Socialist Party (SP) and 50Plus have demanded an explanation. |
