Escaped Prisoner Demands to See Daughter in Court Case
ROERMOND, 21/08/13 - An escaped prisoner has demanded to see his daughter in a court case. His request was turned down Tuesday by a judge in Roermond.
The man failed to return from prison leave last May and has since been on the run from the police. Nonetheless, he applied for a summary injunction in which lawyer Fanny Donders on his behalf demanded compliance with parental access arrangements for his 15 year old daughter. Despite being on the run, the father considered the contact with his daughter in her interest. The Roermond judge ruled otherwise. The fugitive criminal was, logically enough, not present for the ruling. The girl should not be exposed to the fears and risks attaching to the situation of her father, according to the judge. She would, for example, run the risk of being witnessing the arrest of her father or being involved in attempts at flight. Additionally, the judge took into account the fact that it is a crime to offer aid to someone on the run. The judge considers that the father has caused his situation himself and can change by serving his sentence after all. Donders refused to specify the crime of which the man had been convicted. |
