T-Mobile with Huawei in Dutch 4G Network

THE HAGUE, 11/05/13 - Telecom concern T-Mobile has formed an alliance with Chinese technology company Huawei for the construction of a 4G network in the Netherlands.

T-Mobile will offer 4G in Amsterdam from end-2013. From the second half of 2014, clients outside the capital will also be able to avail of the new Internet technology. According to T-Mobile, the rollout of the network is an operation that will be completed in 2015.

Some 5,000 base stations and masts in the Netherlands will be replaced and upgraded with the newest radio technology from Huawei. “We will begin this summer in the cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht. After that, the expansion in the rest of the Netherlands will follow,” said Frank Meywerk, director of technology at T-Mobile, in an interview with De Telegraaf newspaper Friday.

"Huawei supplies the best technology on the market. Our clients will particularly notice this in the speed, stability and reaction power of the network,” said Meywerk. “With this, we can stay ahead of KPN and Vodafone.”
